What the Critics Say

If you're like the majority of '80s heavy metal fans, all the Quiet Riot you'll need in your collection is their blockbuster debut, 1983's Metal Health. But if you want to dig deeper and don't want to buy all their erratic subsequent studio efforts, then the 16-track Collection will come in handy. While there are a few holes here (the most obvious omissions being the MTV hits "Party All Night" and "The Wild and the Young"), most of the expected favorites are here. Tops include both of the quartet's Slade covers, "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now," a re-recording of the Randy Rhoads-era track "Slick Black Cadillac," live cuts like "Let's Get Crazy," and even a few tracks from the short-lived Paul Shortino era, such as "Stay With Me Tonight." Mötley Crüe may have become the undisputed kings of '80s-era Sunset Strip rock, but for a brief moment many figured Quiet Riot would get the nod. And this assumption was understandable, after sampling the aforementioned highlights from The Collection. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
