What the Critics Say
Jeanette "Baby" Washington cut her finest songs for Sue in the early '60s. Although few made the charts, all were delivered with conviction, sung in an earnest and riveting manner, and produced with minimal gimmicks. While the title track is perhaps her best cut, this album thankfully covers many lesser-known tracks and avoids the singles that have frequently popped up on numerous anthologies. "Careless Hands" and "Standing on the Pier" are superior to material that did get airplay; even the always troublesome Collectables sound quality can't override the importance of this release. ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
