What the Critics Say
For most fans, it's inconceivable to have an Alan Jackson hits collection without "Chattahoochee" or "Don't Rock the Jukebox," neither of which are on the budget-line compilation Super Hits. And that, naturally, is a problem for the casual fan, the kind who would buy a budget-line disc expecting that their favorites would be present. That's not the case with Super Hits, which shares only four songs with the exhaustive 20-track Greatest Hits Collection. Those four songs -- "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," "Who Says You Can't Have It All," "She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)," "I Don't Even Know Your Name" -- are among Jackson's best and the remaining six songs (all album tracks, except "Must Have Had a Ball," a hit from the post-Greatest Hits album Everything I Love) are good as well, but this collection simply doesn't deliver the hits it promises. Taken on its own terms, as a random sampling of nine songs from Alan Jackson's catalog, it's entertaining and possibly even a bargain for listeners on a tight budget, but most fans are much better-served by the definitive Greatest Hits Collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
