What the Critics Say
This Rosemary Clooney project (part of an extensive series she has made for Concord) has a more open topic than her songbooks. The show tunes on the set range from older songs such as "Manhattan" and "Taking a Chance on Love" to "I Stayed Too Long at the Fair" and the Bergman's "Where Do You Start." With a few exceptions, Clooney avoids the more familiar tunes in favor of underrated obscurities and she is assisted by a fine quintet that includes tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, cornetist Warren Vache and pianist-arranger John Oddo. All of Clooney's Concord recordings are well worth getting by listeners who enjoy swinging middle-of-the-road vocalists, and this one is no exception. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
