What the Critics Say
Essentially, Rude Awakening is the latest chapter in Sanctuary's ongoing, almost orgiastic release program of live CDs with enclosed DVDs. This one is a distillation of the 24-track album of the same title that was released in 2002 with an added DVD of the live video performances of the tunes on the CD. This is tough to get behind for two reasons: first, Rude Awakening is no longer a live album since the original tracks have been taken out of context and it no longer feels like a show-of that matter with the exception of the audience noise in between tracks you'd never know anyway. Secondly, to repackage something that was released only a year ago with half the music-and, presumably, half the video to make fans pay for something they already own partially anyway is ridiculous.
