What the Critics Say
After hearing a good Wakeup Show, one should clearly understand if they like hip-hop or not, because that's about as real as it gets. Over the years, the show has brought almost every legendary MC the world knows at one point or another through their studios. It is therefore comforting that DJ Revolution has not forgotten that method for success in the mixed-album market, again bringing some of the tastiest records in hip-hop to his turntables for a little cutting and mixing. A few of the standard people appear, including Planet Asia, Big L, Rasco, Kool Keith, and Eminem, but more notably there are some rappers that a lot of listeners may have yet to hear from that appear as well. Guys like Lootpack, Buc Fifty, Droop Capone, Insane Poetry, and Royce Da 5'9 round it out nicely and bring a bit more credibility to what's going on in the underground of hip-hop. With so many DJ's making mixed compilations, it can be hard to single out winners, but this album's quality is hard to overlook. ~ Brad Mills, All Music Guide
