Phase 1 is a stateside calling card of sorts for UK techno trio Pressure of Speech, whose previous activities include engineering duties for the Shamen and Orbital and live events with the Orb and Irresistible Force. A remix EP featuring such artists as Higher Intelligence Agency, Vapour Space, Orbital, and Scanner, Phase 1 ranges from banging techno to more experimental ambient and electro-funk, and is both a nice introduction to and departure from this lesser-known group's dense, unusual sound. ~ Sean Cooper, All Music Guide
