Maybe - Fastbacks

Although it's never confirmed whether or not this single was recorded during or after their Sub Pop days, the Fastbacks manage to churn out four more bouncy power pop numbers with a balance of punk and harmonic vocals from co-singers Lulu and Kim. Maybe is a continuation of what this band has been writing and releasing since their start in 1979, which is a good thing for purists who've been with the band since day one. And as an added bonus to popped-out cover versions of the Supersuckers ("On the Couch") and Guided By Voices ("Teenage FBI"), the closing track, "I'll Return," is a showcase of the Fastbacks' mature crafting, as the song is complete with a mini-orchestration of violins and cellos. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
