What the Critics Say

Brian Setzer convenes his orchestra for the swinging Japanese EP Luck Be a Lady. The leadoff track is Setzer's loungy take on the Frank Sinatra classic, which can also be found as a bonus track on the U.S. issue of 2003's Nitro Burnin' Funny Daddy. The rest of the disc is made up of holiday tunes: a bopping take on "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!," a version of Chuck Berry's "Run Run Rudolph" that shows off Setzer's always impressive guitar work, a smooth and croony "What Are You Doin' New Year's Eve" with Julie Reiten on co-lead vocals, and a goofy western track, "Cactus Christmas." None of the Christmas tracks are available elsewhere, so Setzer fans in need of more hot holiday music should track this EP down. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
