What the Critics Say
Cláudia Jung is a new singer/songwriter which brings a selection of her own works/partnerships and other songs by new composers. As a singer, she is secure and capable, has a velvety timbre and can perform considerable melodic jumps with finesse. The choice of repertory evidences a conflict though: her timbre and interpretations are completely inscribed in the best tradition of MPB, but commercial considerations (apparently) made her to choose several contemporary rhythms as funk and reggae (styles in which she lacks the proper interpretative energy), bringing her closer to the disposable multitude of pop albums currently made in Brazil. If she can stick to her natural style and preferences (as in the pop ballads "Lembranças da pele" and "Por teu amor," the blues "Amor e blues," the folk/pop ballad "Tudo bem," the hybrid, stylized funk-MPB "Cristais" and "Das coisas que não sei"), she can realistically aim for a future in a sincere MPB career. More care to dynamics is also needed, as all different grooves are interpreted much in the same way. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide
