What the Critics Say

America appeared on the syndicated King Biscuit Flower Hour radio program in 1982 as a duo of Gerry Buckley and Dewey Bunnell, and that full-fledged concert performance is officially released here for the first time under the title King Biscuit Flower Hour. The set list features most of the group's biggest hits from their '70s heyday, as well as an infrequently performed cover of "California Dreamin'." America's trademark light folk-rock sound dominates the beginning of the show, but the more it progresses -- rather surprisingly -- the harder the band rocks out, culminating in the album-closing pair of number one hits, "Sister Golden Hair" and "A Horse with No Name." The fidelity, as with most King Biscuit issues, is quite good, making this an entertaining purchase for devotees. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
