What the Critics Say

The lead single from the Boo Radleys' final album Kingsize, "Free Huey" is a fun track, shoehorning in funk/hip-hop rhythms and techno-influenced keyboards into the usual Boo pop brew. While it's a touch shrill all around -- Sice's slightly over the top vocals here undercut things a bit, a change from his usual sweetness -- it's still a nice example of the band's overall abilities and search for variety. Two non-album cuts round out the single. "Everything Falls Away" is an attractive, subtle number, starting with a low-key surfy electric guitar strum and Sice's distant vocals, building into a strong but still restrained psych-pop full band performance. "In a Galaxy Far, Far Away," accompanied with some guest scratching, is a nicely drifty, dub/trip-hop-touched performance. Cjeka's drumming is quite fine, while the production of Sice's vocals on the chorus is most attractive, bringing out the soothing qualities of his singing well. ~ Ned Raggett, All Music Guide
