What the Critics Say
The second of two EPs issued in association with A Hard Day's Night the album, this one consisting of four of the better songs off of the second (non-soundtrack) side. Actually, "I'll Cry Instead" eventually did make it into the movie, upon its 1980s re-release, but it's still a good number, though unlike "Things We Said Today," it never made it into the group's live repertory. Opening with "Any Time at All," it was a killer disc, and only the fact that the songs here had all been available for four months on the full LP detracted from its value. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
