What the Critics Say
Mavis Staples's solo career has been largely undistinguished. Don't Change Me Now pulls together most of her better efforts, being a composite of Staples's two Volt solo albums, Mavis Staples and Only for the Lonely, recorded for Stax subsidiary Volt in 1969 and 1970, respectively.
