What the Critics Say
Lä-Ppisch renewed their contract with Victor Records, now Universal-Victor, released a ten-year retrospective CD, then brought out this modest return to form. There's a bit of early ska craziness on the single "Invincible Salaryman" and the maddeningly catchy (if simplistic) "Dino." But the interest really lies in the new wave, pop/rock sound for this album. "Transfer Train" suggests what would happen if Joe Jackson had bought a distortion pedal. "Message to You" is a quirky, multi-part deconstruction of a pop tune, and "Girl Friend" is yet another of Sugimoto's heartbreakers, set against a Velvet Underground-like hammering pulse. The album is short, sweet, and pointed. ~ Ted Mills, All Music Guide
