What the Critics Say

Despite hailing from Omaha, Slowdown Virginia is mainly defined by two qualities: There's the indie power pop of the Chapel Hill scene, which marks much of the songwriting on Dead Space, and then there's the semi-psychedelic drawl which Kramer brings to most bands he produces, a quality which asserts itself all over Dead Space. Both of these elements work well to give Dead Space a loose and casual texture, and while the album doesn't call for a great deal of accolades, it's a solidly appealing recording. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
