What the Critics Say
Clear Water is Baby You Know's finest hour, an accessible and accomplished country-rock album that should have found an American audience. Released only in Germany, the album was produced by the Go-Betweens' Robert Forster and his influence is deeply felt, especially on the soundalike opener "Lily of the Valley." "I Love You Still" was co-written by Forster, and although he isn't credited, "Outlaw" sounds like a song he could have written. The production and tone overall is reminiscent of Forster's solo album Calling From a Country Phone, while the poetic lyrics repeatedly touch on rural themes and images. A highlight is the majestic "Blind Man's Bluff" on which Robert Forster's wife and -- for this album -- Baby You Know violinist Karin Baumler adds harmony vocals. ~ Greg Adams, All Music Guide
