Released in the Netherlands in 1984, After Midnight is a collection of 15 hits from Eric Clapton's RSO recordings from the '70s and early '80s. This is mainly devoted to familiar hits -- "After Midnight," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Let It Grow," "Lay Down Sally," "Wonderful Tonight" -- but there are a couple of left-field choices like "Cocaine," "Carnival" and "Hello Old Friend" that help capture the rambling feel of Clapton's 70s work and make this a nice sampler. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
