What the Critics Say
The Facts of Life's final LP traveled the same road as their first, except it didn't produce any hits. The Facts of Life are invariably compared to the Soul Children, but whereas the Soul Children sung Southern soul and deep soul, the Facts specialized in saucing up country and R&B covers, which they do here on "He Ain't Your Baby" and "I'm Way Ahead of You." Their first LP was a rush job, but they had more time with this one, working in "This Ain't No Time to Sleep Apart" and Aretha Franklin's "Dr. Feelgood," as well as "We Can't Hide It Anymore," a flop for Sylvia Robinson and Chuck Jackson. A remake of Johnnie Taylor's "Did He Make Love to You?" is marred by an unconvincing, scripted rap between Jean Davis and one of the male singers. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
